Originally released to theaters in 1979, Alien became one of the most successful sci-fi and horror films of the year and has since grown to be a timeless classic. To celebrate the film's 40th Anniversary, NECA is releasing an ongoing series comprised of new releases all year long with at least 9 different limited edition action figures to collect!

This wave includes Ripley and Lambert in their compression suits and a Xenomorph styled by the incredible artist Giger and his original concept artwork—all with various upgrades and improvements. Each figure will come packaged in a 40th Anniversary Kenner-inspired window box to commemorate the occasion.

Faithful to the HR Giger art

It's hard to say no to a repaint of the Big Chap in the HR Giger color scheme. I already owned the Big Chap release but decided from the NECA photos that this repaint looked pretty amazing and was worth adding to my collection. The one caveat I would say to potential buyers is that once you get the figure in-hand, you'll find that the Chap is more brownish than the marketing photos make him out to be. That's likely because they used a translucent brown-ish plastic for his entire body. The photos gave me the impression that he'd be closer to silver-grey, but I think this is because the white lighting was so strong that it dimished the brown/beige color.
Not surprisingly, the paintjob on both the xeno and the facehugger is superb. When Hasbro's factories can barely manage to paint within the sculpt's zones without spilling over or creating little blotches of paint or omitting paint in areas, it's a joy to see a figure that doesn't have these problems (and basically costs the same as a Marvel Legends figure).
For anyone who worries that the translucent plastic makes the figure more fragile, I've been posing him for a week now and the limbs hold up fine, I've not been worried about anything snapping off.

The classic version of Alien

I love this figure. It was a dream come true. Nice sculpt and articulations.
